Nicole Matovina is a post-secondary counselor at Fusion Academy. Nicole earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology and her master’s degree in Counseling Psychology with a concentration in School Counseling from Ball State University. She has earned her teacher certification (EC-6 generalist) in Texas and has achieved licensure as a school counselor in both Texas and Indiana. Before joining the Fusion family, Nicole spent five years in Austin ISD as a teaching assistant and job coach.

Nicole discovered her passion for helping students navigate their post-secondary options while working as a job coach for Project SEARCH, a transition-to-work internship program for students enrolled in special education services. She is committed to helping students learn new skills and explore their options and interests as they take their next steps beyond high school. Nicole brings the same passion and dedication to her work with Fusion students and families.

Nicole moved from Indiana to Texas in 2016 and loves traveling back to the Midwest to visit family and friends. She recently got married and enjoys spending time with her husband Larry and their two cats, Boots and Paw Rudd. Nicole can often be found listening to music, reading, or watching 90s-00s sitcoms (Friends and Boy Meets World are her favorites). She loves practicing hygge, being near water, and dreams of one day living in a cozy cabin by a lake.
