Maria is the Director of Homework Café at Fusion Academy Pasadena. Born and raised in the Washington DC area, she moved to Los Angeles in 2004 to study communication and cinema at USC. She was working for a voiceover talent agency when a chance opportunity inspired her to quit the business side and start teaching film classes at a local private high school. Teaching film soon blossomed into designing a comprehensive communication arts program, rebranding the school’s marketing plan, and moderating several successful clubs and organizations— the rest is history!
Today, Maria is excited to grow her involvement with the Fusion Pasadena family. As Director of Homework Café, her main goal is to help all students feel comfortable in their own skin as they strive for excellence in their schoolwork and prosperity in their social lives here on campus.
When she’s not empathizing with teens or palling around with assorted family and friends, Maria can be found dining her way through northeast LA, catching up on her Hulu shows, or spoiling her guinea pig rotten. To know Maria is to know of her obsession with Back to the Future.
