Lauren has spent most of her life working with children and teens; babysitting, lifeguarding, teaching American Red Cross swim lessons, working with the Preschool Program for Children with Disabilities, and eventually teaching English as a Second Language abroad in South Korea for 2 years. She has a Texas Teaching Probationary License, a B.A. in English & Journalism from Texas A&M – Corpus Christi, and a TEFL/TESOL certification.
She has lived, traveled, and worked extensively in Southeast Asia and has eaten enough white rice to last a lifetime! She is a big time nerd and loves being a “Whovian” and a “Brown Coat”
She has an eclectic array of hobbies, from ukulele playing to upcycling pallets into furniture, that allows her to feel the exhilarating process of learning: trying, failing and trying again.
These hobbies are important to her because they allow her to expand creatively, challenge herself, and experience the gratification of trying new things, whether or not they produce the intended result. She believes that every person has interests and passions that motivate them, and as a teacher, she strives to identify those in order to assist students in achieving their goals.
