Russ Healy is a licensed clinical social worker in private practice in central New Jersey. He received a doctorate in social work (DSW) in June 2016. His dissertation project explored the impact of medical paternalism and medical autonomy on transgender youth. Russ has been in practice for thirty years. His clinical work has focused on sexual and gender minorities. He teaches a course on the assessment and treatment of transgender youth and their families and a course on transgender phenomenology for the Rutgers University School of Social Work. Russ has published a chapter on transgender healthcare in Social Work in Healthcare Settings, Vol.4 and has published a book review in the Journal of GLBT Family Studies.
