This course will explore the underlying principles in Astronomy, starting with a brief history of how our understanding of our position in the Universe has evolved through the ages. Students will be familiar with the units and language used in Astronomy, as well as the tools used in obtaining data from the cosmos. Students will look at the Big Ideas that encompass astronomy such as nuclear fusion, the Big Bang, light and energy, and observable patterns. They will understand the questions that are currently being asked by astronomers and cosmologists and the methods being utilized to answer those questions.
