Education

Sean earned both his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in English Literature from San Francisco State University, where he also completed a certificate in the teaching of composition.

Experience

Sean began his teaching career at his alma mater, San Francisco State University, and at Diablo Valley College, where he taught English, literature, and critical thinking courses for several years. He later joined Fusion Academy in Walnut Creek as a teacher and mentor, before stepping into the role of Instructional Lead at the downtown campus. In each role, Sean has brought a passion for engaging students in critical thinking, fostering a love for literature, and supporting their growth as learners.

Fun Facts and Hobbies

  • Sean has been collecting vinyl records since high school and now owns more than 2,000 LPs.
  • He shares his home with two dogs — a clever German Shepherd/Husky mix and a lovable Boxer/Staffy mix.
  • An experienced traveler, Sean has lived in Oslo, Norway, his wife’s hometown, and has called Oakland home for over 20 years.
