Education

Zahaira graduated with honors from Ventura Community College with her Associates in Natural Sciences and transferred to CSU Channel Islands where she received her Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with an Emphasis in Education. While a student at both colleges, Zahaira served as a Lead Tutor in the Learning Resource Center and served as a supplemental instructor inside the classroom where she assisted professors in lower division courses. During the summers she participated in programs such as Migrant Student Leadership Institute and Algebra Academy, programs designed to encourage students to pursue STEM. She was awarded Robert Noyce Scholar for her passion to pursue STEM education while achieving academic success.

Experience

Zahaira has over 10 years of professional experience working in Education especially in 1-1 or small group instruction. She has taught students from all levels and backgrounds, ranging from pre k, k-12, higher education, and adult ed. She is fascinated by the different ways students learn which allows her to be creative in teaching. In addition, she served in administrative roles at her Alma mater providing coordination to the STEM tutoring Center and most recently served as the Administrative Assistant to Disability Accommodations and Support Services Center.
