Education

Lisa earned her bachelor’s degree in Linguistics from UC Riverside. During her time there she studied at the University of the West Indies in Barbados, as well as programs in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil and Siena, Tuscany, Italy. She earned her certificate to teach through Trinty College in London.

Experience

Lisa began her career teaching English in Vietnam. She returned to California to teach high school English and manage a student international program focusing on academic success and cultural integration. She then spent many years in the curriculum world, working with California schools and districts to implement AI powered mathematics software, led a team to develop content and build a software platform teaching social studies through maps, and managed operations and marketing for an elementary art curriculum membership website. She also started a non-profit that teaches Social-Emotional Learning through storytelling which helped local children struggling with PTSD after the 2017 Thomas Fire publish a children’s book teaching emotional self-regulation.

Fun Facts and Hobbies

  • Lisa is British but her love of travel has taken her to live in seven countries
  • She speaks six languages, does Capoeira, Ironman 70.3 triathlons, and is a member of a local Brazilian Samba-Reggae percussion drumming group.
