SPACE (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions) is an evidence-based treatment program designed to help children and teens overcome anxiety, OCD, and related challenges (school refusal, inability to engage in therapy) by working directly with parents—not the child. Instead of focusing on changing the child’s behavior, SPACE teaches parents how to respond supportively while reducing “accommodations” (the well-intended behaviors that unintentionally maintain anxiety). Research shows that when parents change their patterns, kids’ anxiety can decrease significantly—even without the child participating in therapy. This webinar will provide an overview of SPACE treatment, deepen parents’ understanding of childhood anxiety and accommodation, and offer practical tools to reduce their child’s anxiety by responding in more supportive and effective ways.
