This Lunch and Learn provides parents and educators with a clear, accessible understanding of dyscalculia – what it is, how it shows up in the classroom, and why traditional math instruction can feel so challenging for affected students. Participants will explore common strengths and struggles, learn how dyscalculia impacts higher-level mathematical thinking, and gain practical strategies for teaching complex concepts in ways that are concrete, visual, and meaningful. By the end, attendees will be equipped with tools to support deeper comprehension, confidence, and success for students with dyscalculia across advanced math content.

About the Presenter
Elyse Dworin is the founder of Elevated Learning Solutions, a holistic academic support practice that helps students understand how they learn and what their brains and bodies need to thrive. Elyse sees herself as a “Learning Detective,” as she specializes in uncovering the root causes behind a child’s academic or emotional challenges by looking at their cognition, executive functioning, energy patterns, stress responses, and learning behaviors. She holds both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Special Education and brings over 20 years of experience working with diverse learners. Her approach blends evidence-based instruction with mind-body awareness and social-emotional strategies, helping students and educators alike make learning feel accessible, empowering, and aligned with how each learner is wired. The concepts presented are those which Elyse has developed and refined over years of working directly with students with dyscalculia – approaches that have consistently helped learners grasp and apply higher-level math concepts with greater clarity and confidence.”
