From Surviving to Supporting Yourself: A Parent Self-Care Workshop
Wednesday, March 12 | 6:00–8:00 PM
Fusion Academy Raleigh
Event Description
Parenting can often feel like an exercise in endurance, especially during seasons of stress, uncertainty, or ongoing challenges at home or school. Many parents are told to “practice self-care,” yet the advice they receive is often unrealistic, time-consuming, or disconnected from the realities of daily life. This parent education event focuses on a more compassionate, practical approach to self-care that actually fits into busy weeks and high-demand seasons.
Bobby Newell will explore why traditional self-care advice frequently falls short for parents and how chronic stress and burnout show up in the body, emotions, and behavior. The session will help parents identify their personal warning signs of overload and learn simple, effective micro-practices for grounding and regulation during the school week. Emphasis will be placed on building permission to rest, recover, and reset without feeling like rest has to be “earned.”
Parents will leave with realistic, doable tools to support their own nervous systems, strengthen emotional presence at home, and move from survival mode toward a more supportive relationship with themselves and their children. Food and drinks will be provided, and parents are welcome to bring friends or other caregivers who may benefit.
