Education

Mateo received his associate's degree in Spanish from Saddleback College and bachelor's degree in Media Communications from San Diego State University. His undergraduate degree included a one year study abroad program at the University of Technology, Sydney. Upon graduating from SDSU, he spent several years working in Cambodia as a language instructor. Following his time in Asia, Mateo relocated to Israel where he would complete his master's degree in TESOL from Tel Aviv University in 2019.

Experience

Mateo has worked in education for nearly a decade, in places such as Vietnam, Costa Rica, Cambodia and of course, at home in California. He has taught at both the high school and university level. He enjoys playing music, studying language, gardening, and spending as much time outdoors as possible.

Fun Facts and Hobbies

  • I published a children's health education book in Cambodia.
  • I have been playing guitar for close to 20 years.
  • Two of my most cherished travel souvenirs include a Vietnamese cat and a Mexican dog.
