Fusion Marin Morning & Open House

A Parent & Professional Gathering with Meredith McGarvey, LMFT

Thursday, June 25 | 9:00–10:30 AM

As summer begins, many families are asking an essential question for the year ahead: Is this environment truly the right fit for my child?

At Fusion Marin, we believe that goodness of fit—between a child’s temperament, their environment, and the adults supporting them—can make all the difference in their ability to thrive.

We invite both current Fusion Marin families and those exploring new school options to join us for a thoughtful morning focused on understanding fit, connection, and what can help students succeed.

Current Fusion Marin Families: bring a friend, colleague, or another family who may benefit from a different kind of school experience.

FEATURED SESSION

Meredith McGarvey, LMFT
“Goodness of Fit”: Aligning Temperament, Parenting, and School Environments

A child’s success isn’t just about effort—it’s about alignment.

In this practical and engaging session, Meredith will explore how “goodness of fit” impacts a child’s emotional well-being, behavior, and ability to learn—both at home and at school. When a child’s temperament is well matched to the expectations and environments around them, they are more likely to feel understood, capable, and confident. When there’s a mismatch, even strong students can struggle.

Together, we’ll look at how differences in temperament, personality, and expectations can either support or hinder growth—and how small shifts can create meaningful change.

You’ll learn:

  • What “goodness of fit” really means—and why it’s critical for long-term success
  • How children’s temperament (e.g., introverted, highly sensitive, flexible, intense) interacts with home and school environments
  • How parenting style, expectations, and communication patterns influence that fit
  • How to recognize when a mismatch—not a lack of ability—is the root of challenges
  • Ways to better align your approach to support independence, resilience, and confidence
  • What children need from both home and school settings to feel regulated, engaged, and successful

WHY “FIT” MATTERS FOR THE NEXT SCHOOL YEAR

Many students who come to Fusion didn’t need to try harder, they needed a different environment where they could show up as themselves and be met accordingly.

At Fusion Academy Marin, our model is built around goodness of fit, supporting students who:

  • Struggle to consistently access learning in traditional classrooms
  • Need individualized pacing, structure, and accountability
  • Benefit from strong relationships and personalized support
  • Thrive when their environment adapts to how they learn best

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

  • Parents considering a change for the upcoming school year
  • Current Fusion families looking to deepen understanding and connection
  • Therapists, educational consultants, and school professionals
  • Families navigating anxiety, school resistance, or overwhelm

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Insight from a trusted clinical expert on “goodness of fit”
  • A clear framework for evaluating whether your child’s current environment is aligned
  • Conversations with Fusion staff about your child’s unique needs
  • Guided campus tour and an inside look at our 1-to-1 model
  • Opportunities to connect with both new and current Fusion families

Whether you’re already part of the Fusion community or just beginning to explore options, this is a chance to step back, reflect, and better understand what the right fit looks like—for your child and your family.
