Education

Rob studied guitar performance at Berklee College of Music and began his professional career in 1990, playing throughout the northeast. In addition to his musical studies, he completed his undergraduate degree at SUNY Albany, earning his BA in Philosophy in 1992 and receiving the university’s Award for Academic Excellence in Philosophy.

Experience

Rob continued his music career in upstate New York. In addition to performing live with many of the region’s top bands, Rob worked in the recording studio playing for hire on albums, television, and radio advertisements, and on the soundtrack of the feature film The Castle.
As an educator, Rob began teaching full-time in 1995. Keeping a full roster of private students, he eventually joined the faculty at SUNY Schenectady as an adjunct professor of guitar performance in 2010.

  • Rob leads and performs in his own band Cool Crooks, playing in local venues on Long Island
  • He is an accompanist and musical director for Congregation Simchat Halev, a Jewish Renewal synagogue in Syosset,
