Monette Stransom

Director of Outreach


Monette studied Political Science at the University of North Texas.


Monette has a background in business development, community engagement, and qualitative research. A native of Texas, Monette has traveled extensively and lived in the South, Midwest, East Coast, and twice abroad in England for 15 years.

While living in England, Monette served on the Board of Governors for North Somerset Council and focused, with a passion, on creating an atmosphere where students achieved progression through a culture of belonging and acceptance. As a volunteer with Dyslexia Portishead, Monette developed and launched an integrated training focused on increasing accommodation and dyslexia-friendly classroom environments across the district.

Fun Facts and Hobbies

  • Monette is an avid camper, hiker, and adventurer traveler and has traveled extensively in the USA and Europe. In 2019, she trekked to Everest Base Camp in Nepal, raising money for YMCA Resident Youth Camping.
  • Monette is the wife of a British Environmental Engineer who builds Glamping sites in the US, and the proud Mum of 3 children who love to hike and camp as much as she does.
  • Monette believes in the restorative and healing effects of being in contact with and exploring the natural world. As a result, she has supported YMCA Youth Resident Camping in both professional and volunteer roles for over thirty years.
