Elizabeth (Hanan) Alsheikh

I am currently pursuing my second PhD in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), and I hold a PhD in Cognitive Psychology with a minor in Special Education from Egypt.

My research in Biomedical Engineering (BME), Brain Imaging, and Neuroplasticity has been presented and published globally. I am currently working in one of the BME labs at UIC to develop the first wearable human brain imaging device.

For over 20 years, I have been changing people’s lives through teaching at various educational levels and in different cultures and languages, as well as helping students in my private practice as a cognitive psychologist. Assisting students in reaching their Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD) and achieving their maximum potential is my life’s mission.

Pursuing a second graduate degree in a completely different area has provided me the opportunity to apply my knowledge in cognitive psychology, thereby enhancing my understanding of student needs, particularly in advanced math and science courses.
