Topic: ADHD-Friendly Strategies For Neurodivergent Adults Supporting Kids At Home And School

If you are a parent or teacher with ADHD, you know it’s hard.  Really, really hard.  We love our kids and want to give them our very best.  And there are so many unique ways that an ADHD brain works that make teaching and parenting our neurodivergent kids even more of a struggle than it already is. But it’s not just the struggle that your ADHD brain brings to the relationship- the kids lucky enough to learn and grow with you benefit from your ADHD brain as well!

Join Marcy Caldwell and Mattea LeWitt as we explore how to ease the struggle of aligning needs while capitalizing on the benefits inherent in the overlap with research-backed, ADHD-friendly strategies.

Presenters:

Marcy Caldwell, PsyD

Marcy Caldwell, Psy.D., is a psychologist, writer, and proud mom of 2 in a family full of ADHD who has been helping adults with ADHD thrive for over twenty years. She is a passionate advocate for adults with neurodiverse brains and is dedicated to helping them create environments that unlock their unique genius.

Marcy is the founder of ADDept.org, a blog and digital resource for adults with ADHD, the owner of The Center for ADHD, a group practice specializing in adult ADHD, and the creator of Meltdown to Mastery, an innovative digital program that helps adults with ADHD learn to better regulate their emotions.

 

Mattea LeWitt, LCSW

Mattea is a licensed clinical social worker specializing in helping adults with ADHD through practical strategies and emotional exploration.  Mattea has a particular passion and focus on helping parents with ADHD develop more connected, loving, and effective relationships with their kids through ADHD-informed parent coaching.  She is also the creator of The Center for ADHD’s ADHD Sleep Better program.  With a master’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania, her expertise extends to stress, trauma, relationships, and aiding underserved groups like LGBTQ+ and neurodiverse individuals. 

 

Workshop Outcomes

  1. Participants will be able to name the fundamental difference between ADHD and Neurotypical brains.
  2. Participants will be able to identify the 2 parts of an ADHD-friendly system.
  3. Participants will be able to list 8 strengths that ADHD brains bring to parenting and teaching.
  4. Participants will be able to identify at least 3 actionable ADHD-friendly strategies to address the struggles of parenting and teaching with ADHD.
