Education

Sophia attended Clayton State University and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Middle Grades Education with concentrations in English and Science.

Experience

Sophia has worked with a wide range of students from preschool all the way to high school and is passionate about the search for knowledge as a life-long journey. Previously, she worked for the Gwinnett County Public School System as an Interrelated Resource English Teacher to high school seniors, serving students in and outside of the special education program.

2019 recipient of CSU's J.E. Edmonds Scholarship for teacher education students which allowed her to join the teacher's study abroad program to travel to Paris, France with a focus on the current multicultural struggles that many minorities face within France. Through teaching English, interviewing students and their families, and experiencing the real lives of different communities, she faced a life changing experience that reinforced and strengthened her reflective and culturally responsive teacher mindset.

Sophia is GACE certified in Spanish, English, Science, and Special Education.
