What You’ll Learn
College preparation doesn’t start senior year. Janice will walk you through a practical, grade-by-grade roadmap from 9th through 12th grade so you can see what to prioritize now and what can wait.
You’ll learn about:
- College planning: academics, testing, college research, applications, financial considerations, and finding the right fit
- College readiness: executive functioning, self-advocacy, accommodations, communication, and increasing independence
- College support: how to evaluate accessibility services, academic support, and structured programs
- Your role as a parent: what to manage now, what your student should begin owning, and how that changes throughout high school
Why College Readiness Matters
The support your student has now may look very different in college. Students take on more responsibility for understanding their needs, requesting accommodations, communicating with professors, managing their time, and asking for help.
Janice will help you understand how college support differs and what to look for when evaluating accessibility services, academic support, and structured programs.
Meet Janice Royal
Janice Royal, M.A., is the founder of Royal College Consulting and has guided students and families through college planning and admissions since 2012. She has particular expertise working with students with learning disabilities, ADHD, autism, dyslexia, and other learning differences.
Over nearly 15 years as an educational consultant, Janice has personally visited more than 400 colleges and universities across the country, giving her firsthand perspective on the many different environments students may encounter.
