Education
A graduate of Wesleyan University with a bachelor’s degree in African American Studies, J.D. earned a Master’s degree in International Education Policy from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education.
Experience
J.D. has fourteen years of school leadership experience and 20 years of teaching experience focusing on student-centered pedagogy. As Dean of Academic Life at Stevenson School and Upper School Dean of Instruction at Polytechnic School, J.D. collaborated with faculty, staff, and students to advance innovative instructional design and cultivate joy and inclusion throughout each community. Before moving to California in 2017, J.D. served as Associate Head of School at The School for Ethics and Global Leadership in Washington, D.C. for six years.
Fun Facts and Hobbies
- At the age of 12, J.D. got to play ice hockey during the intermission of the Rangers-Penguins game after playing in the first women's ice hockey game ever held in Madison Square Garden.
- J.D. as a Portuguese Water Dog named Moby
- J.D. enjoys singing live band karaoke during her free time.
