California State University Northridge, B.A. English
Rachel is an English and History teacher at Fusion Academy. She grew up in the San Fernando Valley and has lived in Southern California all her life. She attended UC San Diego and lived and worked there for several years before returning to Los Angeles to complete her degree at CSUN and achieve her dream of becoming a teacher. She has enjoyed working with children of all ages since she was a volunteer with preschoolers while only in Middle School herself. She led the English Department at her last school, helping to implement benchmarks for student achievement and develop curriculum emphasizing values and social justice. Rachel has always been passionate about words and ideas, and loves getting to spend her days sharing that with her students. Each day as a teacher brings new challenges in finding ways to inspire her students to read more and think critically, both about the world and about themselves. When not at Fusion, Rachel spends most of her time with her favorite student, her four-year-old daughter.
Hobbies: Reading (of course), Watching Bad Movies, Netflix Bingeing, Snowboarding, Running (when not injured), and spending time hanging out with her husband and daughter
