Kayleigh Clyde

Teacher/Mentor
University of Tennessee, Knoxville, B.A. History, minor in Political Science and Education
University of Tennessee, Knoxville, M.S. Secondary Education

Kayleigh grew up between the Santa Clarita and San Fernando valleys. After receiving her Associate’s degree from College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita in 2011, she moved to Tennessee, where she began attending the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Kayleigh was accepted into UTK’s reputable teacher education program, and began to study education alongside History and Political Science. She graduated cum laude with her Bachelor’s degree in May 2014. That fall, she began a year-long, full-time student teaching internship while taking graduate courses. Kayleigh completed her Master of Science degree in Secondary Education, summa cum laude, in summer 2015. Through service learning and her internship, Kayleigh was exposed to the difficulties that teachers and students face in today’s public school systems. She quickly realized that there needs to be an option for students to learn in a way that best suits them so that all students can be successful. After she chose to return to California, Kayleigh stumbled upon Fusion Academy and immediately gravitated towards Fusion’s philosophy and approach towards education. She is very passionate about teaching Social Studies, and strives to help her students better understand the world around them. In an increasingly globalized and conflicted world, she feels that it is crucial for her students to be prepared for what they may encounter. Additionally, she seeks to build relationships with each one of her students and aims to incorporate the students’ interests and abilities into every lesson.

Hobbies: Dancing; attending concerts; playing board and video games, soccer, and volleyball; spending quality time with her cat and Netflix, baking (and eating) tasty treats
