Katie Kramer

ASL Teacher/Mentor

As the American Sign Language Teacher, Katie truly can’t wait to expose students to the beauty of what the Deaf Culture, the Deaf Community and American Sign Language have to offer students here at Fusion Academy.

At an early age, Katie knew that she was called to work with American Sign Language and the Deaf Community, as her cousin was born deaf. Katie saw many reasons to become involved in the Deaf Community and to become a strong advocate for her cousin.  Katie has worked in numerous school settings; working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students, both at public schools and residential schools for the Deaf for the last 14 years.  She received her Bachelors of Science in Special Education from the University of Kentucky and obtained her Masters of Art in Deaf Education and Multiple Disabilities from Gallaudet University.  Katie has a passion for teaching students to reach their full potential, making learning fun and developing personal relationships with all students.

Katie is from the Midwest and currently resides in Washington, DC. She enjoys traveling and learning about different cultures.  She has had the great opportunities of learning Kenyan Sign Language in Kenya, Africa and Nicaraguan Sign Language in Managua, Nicaragua while living there for some time.  Outside of the school setting, Katie absolutely loves watching her Cleveland Browns play football, enjoys dancing and playing tennis.
