Jennie Swenson

Post Secondary Counselor

Jennie has been supporting students with post-secondary counseling for almost four years at Fusion Academy’s South Bay, CA and Fairfield, CT campuses.

As a Post-Secondary Counselor at Fusion Academy, Jennie is focused on guiding and inspiring students as they prepare for life after high school. She is passionate about connecting with each individual to discover their unique path, including community colleges, 4-year colleges, gap years and beyond. Her favorite parts of counseling are building passion-driven resumes and helping students recognize and deliver their own stories in essays and interviews.

Sessions are individualized to student needs and often involve guidance on standardized testing, creating a college list, identifying a major, building and drafting a resume, assembling a portfolio, essay writing, interview prep, college selection, and more.

Jennie has also worked as an English, Psychology, Life Skills, Roadtrip Nation, and Yoga teacher at Fusion Academy. She received a Bachelor of Arts in English and Bachelor of Science in Communication Disorders with a Minor in Music from Brigham Young University. She wrote her honors thesis on the delivery of post-operative speech therapy services to individuals with cleft palate in Amman, Jordan. Jennie taught English to youth in leprosy colonies in India and has worked with children and adults of varying learning differences in clinics and schools across the United States. Jennie enjoys traveling, live music, and spending time with friends and family.
