Andrew G Hager is the author of nine published books on the history of popular American music and of four produced musicals. As a graduate of New York University’s Master in Musical Theater Writing Program, Hager studied musical theater creation with Hal Prince and Stephen Schwartz (among others). As a performer, Hager spent four years as leader and singer/songwriter for the Manhattan-based band Big Iron Skillet (Sony Music Studios,1997). Since moving back to Houston from NYC, Hager has directed and performed on stages throughout the city, as well as created and implemented the musical theater performance program within the Theatre department of the High School for the Performing & Visual Arts.
