Valerie Nicolson teaches math and science at Fusion Academy. She received a B.S.E. in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Iowa, and then moved west to complete a Ph.D. in Bioengineering at the University of California, San Francisco and Berkeley. She has a part-time career as a scientist studying neurodegeneration of the brain using magnetic resonance imaging and electrophysiology, and also likes to teach young people the joys of math and science. When she has spare time, Valerie likes music, watching her children do their various activities, and biking with her husband.
