Originally from New York, Teresa grew up in Miami, attending private school from K through 12. She earned her BA from Spring Hill College, with a major in history and a double minor in secondary education and English. After college, she began teaching at a local private school. During her initial career in education, Teresa received her Master’s degree in Social Sciences and did her research practicum on cultural literacy and how ideas and symbols are handed down in a culture. After Hurricane Andrew in 1992, Teresa changed careers and became a paralegal doing commercial litigation, including toxic tort and employment law but it was always her intention to come back to her first love – teaching.
Teresa enjoys many activities. She has sung in choirs and as a soloist since middle school, loves to create hand painted shirts and sweatshirts and crochet. She is an avid reader who enjoys various genres, including history, religion, science fiction and spy novels. She is a fan of Tom Clancy, JK Rowling and George RR Martin, among other authors, and is anxiously awaiting the final season of Game of Thrones!
