Jess serves Fusion primarily as a math and science teacher. She earned her BA in Mathematics, Earth and Planetary Science, and Integrated Science from Northwestern University. During undergrad she spent a semester doing intensive field work and research in Woods Hole at the Marine Biological Laboratory (MBL) and two summers mucking about the Saginaw Bay ecosystem. She completed her Master’s in Earth and Planetary Science at Harvard University, in which she switched gears a bit to focus on atmospheric and climate science.
Jess loves learning and is so excited to be able to help guide students on their own journeys! She has taught high-school and college-level science to middle schoolers through the Center for Talent Development’s weekend enrichment program, and last year she worked as a full-time in-school tutor and mentor at Bogan High School through SAGA Innovations. She enjoys getting to know her students.
In her free time, Jess loves biking by the lake, swimming in it, dancing around her house, making stuff, eating delicious food, and reading Agatha Christie Novels.
