As the Special Education Lead, Kirby looks forward to building relationships with the families of fusion in order to foster the growth, success, and positivity that the Fusion experience offers.
After growing up with a close family member with a disability, Kirby knew that advocating for the needs of individuals with disabilities was her calling in life. She has worked in the area of Special Education in various capacities: teacher, physical and occupational therapy assistant, coping and social skills instructor, cognitive behavior skills coach, and crisis manager. She received her Masters of Education, in Special Education, from George Mason University and continuously seeks out ways to further her knowledge and commitment to student empowerment. Kirby has a passion for teaching students how to activate positive energy and understand their strengths in order to overcome obstacles, realize their tremendous value and worth, and ultimately actualize their potential.
Kirby is a native to the McLean/Arlington area and currently resides there with her husband. She enjoys all art forms, and awaits the day she has her own art studio equipped with a printing press. Outside of the school setting, Kirby can be found “shenaniganing” around with her nieces and nephews, learning to like football for her husband, relaxing with a book, traveling.
