Darby was a local student of Marin where he attended Sir Francis Drake High School, and then College of Marin. He then left to study Environmental Science at Humboldt State University and to continue his dream of becoming a professional soccer player. He left the team and focused on his degree in Energy and Climate to create a foundation to achieve his goal of becoming a helping hand in the international development field.
At College of Marin he was involved with the tutoring center, volunteering his time to assist with tutoring math. After his time at Humboldt State, he returned home to be a volunteer assistant to the SEADISC environmental science program, continue coaching gymnastics and prepare to travel around Europe to study community development.
Darby still plays, coaches and referees soccer in his free time and goes back to his gymnastics center to continue training with his gymnastics “family”. He is preparing to go back and achieve his graduate degree in community development or energy development, or obtain his teaching credential as teaching has always been a secret passion of his.
