Cheryl is very excited to join the Fusion Academy Team as a English teacher. Cheryl graduated from SUNY College at Old Westbury, earning a bachelor’s degree in English (Multicultural Literature). She was proud be inducted into Sigma Tau Delta, the International English Honor Society. Prior to becoming a Fusion Academy English teacher, Cheryl worked as a mentor for youths in the foster care system. There she was afforded the opportunity to tutor elementary, middle school and high school students in various subjects. Cheryl loves teaching and views every moment as an opportunity to teach or an opportunity to learn.
Aside from teaching English Literature, Cheryl enjoys musical theater, acting, improv and writing. Cheryl is very active in her church, as she heads the drama department and teaches Sunday school. She also enjoys serving her community, as she is the co-founder of Happy Harmonies, a non-for profit organization which serves the homeless and other underprivileged communities of the Long Island. She looks forward to instilling these values of community, hard work and academic passion into her Fusion Academy students.
