Sherif attained a Bachelor’s degree in History from the California State University of Long Beach. As part of his college career, Sherif spent three wonderful years as a College Student Aide for the Long Beach Unified School District.
As an AVID tutor at Stanford Middle School, Sherif’s welcoming personality and love for knowledge allowed him to fit in well. During his time at Stanford, Sherif was able to see how emotional wellbeing was critical in a student’s academic success. At Fusion, Sherif has been able to use his experience as a Homework Café Mentor, Teacher, Department Head, and Homework Café Director to better serve our Fusion community. As the second Assistant Director at the Los Angeles campus, Sherif looks forward to using his unique skills and outlook to continue making LA one of the premier academic institutions in southern California.
Sherif’s enthusiasm extends outside the classroom where he is an avid competitor. Although he may not be as proficient as he would like in basketball, golf, and boxing, he still enjoys the spirit of competition and the camaraderie associated with it. Sherif’s love for competition was exemplified when he competed and won a school wide math competition in the second grade, three months after emigrating from Egypt. At the time, he had not yet learned English. Luckily for him, math is a universal language.
