Born and raised in the magnificent state of Texas, Shannette has resided in several areas throughout Houston. As a lover of sports, she was a productive member of Track and Field teams throughout her educational career. After graduating from Cypress Creek High School in 2005, she attended Lamar University until 2009. During her years at Lamar University, she ventured into several realms of social work and human services. Her ventures included juvenile probation, and female detention officer for Jefferson County. Additionally, in 2010-2011 she participated in the Children’s Defense Fund as a servant lead.
After receiving her Bachelor of Science Degree in Social Work, she returned to Houston where she was employed by Cypress Fairbanks ISD in multiple facets. Her positions and promotions within the Cypress Fairbanks ISD included AVID tutor, program leader, assistant program manager, program manager and site supervisor. These positions within the school district combined with human service and social work fueled her love of education and made it fundamentally absorbable to the children she interacts with.
Prior to planting roots at Fusion, she received her Master’s Degree in Social Work and began work as a Rehab Clinician for The Harris Center for Mental Health & IDD (Formerly MHMRA) of Houston, TX. She uses all expertise gained to be innovative, compassionate, and a dependable hard worker in Fusion’s individualized education setting. As the current Director of Homework Café, she is able to apply skills obtained in the education, human services and social work fields daily. Her interests include cosmetology, fashion, and children which are only surpassed by her love of family!
