Samantha LaBue

Teacher/Mentor

Before finding a home at Fusion, Sammi was earning an MFA in Fiction Writing with the Vermont College of Fine Arts and teaching creative writing around the city for marginalized people through the New York Writers Coalition. She also runs writing workshop for adults through her own small business, Fledgling Writing Workshops, located near her home in Brooklyn.

A westerner at heart, Sammi was born in California and raised in Colorado where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in English before moving to New York. After working in the publishing industry for a stint she realized a passion for being an educator and doesn’t plan on looking back.

When she’s not at Fusion or spending time on her next magical realism novel, Sammi is probably in the kitchen, drawing pictures of birds, or at one of the exercise classes in Downtown Brooklyn. She escapes to Vermont or Massachusetts where her partner’s family lives every now and then where she cross-country skis, hikes, and kayaks. Her other passions include playing the board game, The Settlers of Catan, watching Yankees games, and going to funk concerts.
