Sam recently moved from Austin, TX and is enjoying all the exciting opportunities Brooklyn has to offer including their new position at Fusion Academy! Sam attended Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA where they studied English and Spanish. After studying abroad in Barcelona they developed a passion for language and began teaching English as a Second Language shortly after graduating. In 2013 Sam lived in Chile where they taught English as a foreign language in rural Patagonia. Upon returning from Chile Sam planted roots in Austin where they worked as a Program Director at the Boys and Girls Club and as a Substitute Teacher and After school Director at a local Montessori. Until the big move to NYC they took pride in Community Work at a neighborhood center offering case management services. Sam loves music, art, travel, and the outdoors. In their spare time they play synthesizer, pickle vegetables, and act out skits with their best friend. Sam values project-based learning and believes in the power of student-driven education. They are elated to become a part of the Fusion family!
