Russell Jaffe

Russell Jaffe is an English and life skills teacher and mentor here at Fusion. He’s also a poet, performer, dad, artist, editor, and lover of seltzer who holds an MFA in Poetry from Columbia College and has taught all types of high school, college, and junior high reading and writing classes in New York, Iowa, and now here in the Chicagoland area, where he is from. He is the author of a few collections of poetry and is an on-air talent for Course Hero, shooting literary study guide videos that summarize and analyze classic books. Additionally, he has served as a Professional Development Fellow at Kirkwood Community College (area of specialization: understanding and engaging students) and worked as a founding faculty member/Junior High Homeroom Teacher and Volunteer Coordinator at The Chicago Free School, a k-8 centered around restorative justice and mentoring.

When he isn’t teaching, Russell is probably watching pro wrestling, chasing around his 3-year-old daughter, reading anything he can get his hands on, and thinking about new and creative ways to make sandwiches.
