Richard Carpenter has been involved in education in and out of the classroom for the past 10 years: first as a substitute teacher and then as a 6th and 9th grade English teacher in his hometown of Irving Texas. He later transitioned into coordinating campus-wide testing before finally moving to Austin in 2016. He is excited to get back to what he likes best: teaching students.
Richard graduated in 2005 with a B.A. in English Lit from a private liberal arts University in Dallas where he acquired a passion for poetry and literature. Richard believes that reading and writing are more than just good useful skills; he believes that literature can teach us empathy and how to be good.
When Richard is not spending time with students, or enjoying the greener parts of Austin, you will find him in his home studio, writing and producing music.
