Rebecca has worked as a Special Education teacher for the Department of Education since 2001, and has taught throughout New York City. She has also taught as a Home Instruction teacher for District 75. She has worked with kids with a variety of learning differences, as well as social/emotional issues. She has a Master’s degree in Special Education, and is permanently certified in NY State. She has worked closely with families, formulating IEP’s and other education plans to fully accommodate her students.
In addition, she is a certified yoga teacher, and is inspired to learn about all facets of yoga philosophy. She believes the practice and teachings of yoga can shift and transform people’s lives and loves to see her students light up when they experience yoga and self- realization.
Rebecca tries to engage her students in meaningful ways to develop critical thinking skills and to come up with strategies that enable them to self-manage their learning, and motivate them to want to follow through with their work. As a Special Ed. Lead teacher at Fusion Academy, Rebecca is thrilled to help empower students to find the best ways for them to love learning.
Rebecca has travelled throughout Europe and Asia, enjoys exploring the world, and being outdoors. Now, she enjoys motherhood and feels blessed to have a wonderful baby boy, born on New Year’s Day!
