Ravenna Komar spent her childhood reading and writing stories in a 250-year old farmhouse in Hunterdon County, New Jersey. She moved to D.C. to attend the George Washington University and earned a Bachelor’s degree in English and Creative Writing. Ravenna recently graduated with a Master of Fine Arts in Poetry from the University of Maryland, where she taught academic writing and creative writing workshops. While there, she participated in the Writers Here & Now live reading program and the student-run series. She has also had the pleasure of attending the Folger Shakespeare Library’s O.B. Hardison Poetry Series as a Lannan Fellow.
Throughout her time in the DMV, Ravenna has taught reading development and writing classes to students of all ages from kindergarten through adulthood. There’s nothing she likes better than discovering the mysteries of the English language with other people.
