Rachel acts as the Learning Specialist for Fusion Academy, Walnut Creek. She graduated from The University of Colorado, Boulder with an MA in English (emphasis on Literature) and Saint Mary’s College of California with a Multiple Subject Credential, Single Subject English Credential and Education Specialist Credential. She will be pursuing her Master’s in the Psychology and Human Development field with an emphasis on Exceptional Learners. After obtaining her credentials, Rachel moved to London where she taught Special Education for 4 years. She returned to the States and further developed her career working in Public, Private, and Non-Public Schools as an Education Specialist in a variety of grades and capacities. Her passion for education, specifically working with exceptional learners, has led her to trainings and certifications in PECS (Picture Exchange Communication Systems), Social Cognition, Mental Health in the Special Education population, and TEACCH (developed out of the School of Medicine at UNC Chapel Hill). Throughout her 10 years of teaching she has been able to use her skills to create individualized learning experiences for a variety of students. Rachel is very enthusiastic about making learning accessible, applicable, and enjoyable for all learners. In her free time she enjoys reading, game nights with friends, and working on getting more Disney ½ Marathon medals! A little known fact about Rachel is she was stung by a jellyfish while on a night dive in the British Virgin Islands!
