Nicole Weston

Head of School

Nicole is excited to open and serve as Head of School for Fusion Academy’s Columbia campus.

Nicole’s passion and purpose is developing human potential through an educational system as dedicated to teaching human flourishing as it is to teaching academics. Nicole has 20 years of experience in the field of education as a teacher, instructional lead, professional development lead, and administrator. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from both the public and private sectors.

Nicole launched her career in education teaching AP psychology in Palm Beach county Florida. She developed innovative hands-on activates designed to make learning fun and accessible to each of her students. Her student’s strong AP test scores proved that her innovative approach to teaching AP was working. As a result, Nicole was invited to join the professional development team and she volunteered to mentor new teachers.

After having children of her own, she began to see areas of concern within the traditional school model and committed herself to making a difference in how school was done. At the same time, she relocated to her hometown in Maryland where she stepped away from the public school sector and began working as an administrator for a private school start-up in Montgomery county Maryland. She played a key role in all aspects of school administration from hiring to creating systems. Hungry to teach the skills of flourishing, Nicole earned certifications in both mindfulness and life coaching.

When Fusion Academy announced it was coming to the region and opening its first doors in DC, Nicole could not wait to be a part of it. Her mission of developing human potential through an educational system as dedicated to human flourishing as it is to teaching academics seamlessly aligned with Fusion’s mission. She joined Fusion in 2016 and helped open the DC campus as the master teacher. Shortly thereafter, she was promoted to the role of assistant director.

A true nature lover at heart, Nicole can be found outside hiking, walking, or landscaping when not at school. She enjoys watching her daughter’s gymnastics competitions, barbequing with her husband in the back yard and training her dog.
