Micah Susman has worked in education for over 20 years, most recently—prior to Fusion—as a high school English and Creative Writing teacher. Before he moved to Austin in 1997, he worked in Boston for several years, after being raised in Washington, D.C.—where he attended a small, private high school. His career in education began in 1993 as a Corps Member in City Year, a service program that was the model for current day AmeriCorps, where he worked with elementary and middle school students. Once in Austin, Micah worked with emotionally disturbed students in Eanes ISD, economically disadvantaged students in Del Valle ISD, and students from all walks of life in Austin ISD at the district’s fine arts academy. He embraces his return to private school at Fusion Academy, where he will continue to teach to and learn from every, single student.
In his free time, Micah enjoys all things Austin, especially music, film, food, hiking and swimming the Greenbelt. He also enjoys traveling, Scuba diving, riding motorcycles, and dancing. He lives in South Austin with his wife and daughter.
