Meara (rhymes with Sara!) had the great pleasure of serving on the founding team that opened the Fusion Loudoun campus as an Assistant Director from July 2017-June 2018. Meara then served there as Interim Head of School from July-October 2018 while the Head of School was on maternity leave. She is now very excited to take on a DMV regional support role as Head of School in Training while supporting as Fusion Rockville’s Interim Assistant Director.
Meara’s primary responsibilities at Fusion Rockville include overseeing the academic program as well as hiring, training, and supporting all teaching staff. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with minors in French and Africana Studies from the College of the Holy Cross and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Central Connecticut State University. Meara’s previous roles included serving as a founding teacher for two years, and then Principal for four years, at a middle school for underserved boys in Hartford, CT. She also worked with high school and college students as an Educational Programs Administrator at a scholarship organization in Alexandria, VA and has tutored extensively in Fairfax County. She feels extremely fortunate to have the opportunity to work with Fusion students and families and be part of such a dedicated and compassionate team of educators.
Meara lives with her husband in Falls Church, and enjoys staying active, being outside, volunteering, and traveling to and exploring new places. Some fun facts about Meara are that she studied abroad in Cameroon for a year and that she has run two Ragnar Relay races and many half marathons.
