Maywattie Durbeej teaches math and biology, and offers guidance and support to our students. She earned her Bachelors’ of Science in Biology from CUNY York College of Jamaica, Queens and is now completing her second degree in Medical Technology. During her undergraduate career, she accumulated meaningful experience in the medical field as a pharmacy technician and as a hospital volunteer. She also has a strong passion for educating children, which enabled her to easily transition into the role of an educator. She later began tutoring in a local tutoring center in Queens, and then became a math instructor at Mathnasium, where she has obtained a total of 5 successful years in group and individual tutoring. Having a strong biology and medical background, Maywattie is also very keen on fitness and promoting healthy living, and enjoys a good workout. She also enjoys spending time with her friends and family. Being raised in a third world country where higher education is absent, Maywattie is very enthusiastic about learning, teaching, and sharing her knowledge and experiences. She aims to be a role model for young adults and provide support for the field that they aspire to pursue. As a recent graduate, she has a strong understanding of college requirements, making her equipped to prepare students for the rigors of high school while easing the transition to college. Not to mention, Maywattie is also very excited to be working at Fusion Academy!
