Max Herz

Director of Homework Cafe

As the Homework Café Director, Max comes to Fusion Academy Los Gatos with rich experience in working with children and young adults. He earned a BS with a major in Sociology as well as minors in both Business and Philosophy from the University of Oregon. Max was the director of a mountain biking program at an all-boys wilderness camp in Wisconsin where he worked for two separate summers. More recently he was working at a therapeutic wilderness program in Utah for at-risk youth. There, Max was a field staff member where he lived with the students 24/7 for eight days at a time. With over one hundred days in the field, Max was responsible for keeping the students safe, teaching the students wilderness survival skills, and most importantly providing an emotionally safe environment for the students to grow.   Max has a passion for working with children and young adults and is thrilled to be the Homework Café Director at Fusion Academy Los Gatos!

Max grew up in Boulder, Colorado where much of his family still resides. He is an adamant sports fan with sports roots in Chicago where both of his parents are from. Max loves his alma mater, Oregon Ducks, and he wishes one day to see his beloved Chicago Cubs win the World Series with his entire family to see! In his free time, Max loves to play guitar, see live music, go on hikes, ski, and enjoy the company of his friends and family.
