Math Teacher/ Mentor
Matt earned his BA in English and Psychology from the St. Mary’s College of Maryland Honors Program and an MA in Writing Fiction from Johns Hopkins University. A teacher at heart, he has taught Math, English and Social Studies at the high school level in private schools for fifteen years. Dedicated to the “whole student” approach, Matt continually wonders about good ways for individuals, institutions and societies to be, and he loves small private schools for the ways they are “intentional communities,” and the ways they can support students to both be authentically themselves and also highly functional in a world that sets high expectations.
In his spare hours, Matt can be found reading, designing things (posters, rings and/or board games), or, frequently, at the Landmark Bethesda Row movie theater or at AFI.
