Matt grew up a quick half hour north from Stamford in a town called Trumbull, CT. As a kid, he played little league and youth hockey, and would often romp outside in the woods, spending hours playing with his twin sister, Ali. Matt’s parents are originally from New York, and his grandparents on his father’s side immigrated from Argentina in the 1950s. Because of this, there is strong South American tradition at his house, and his childhood consisted of amazing homemade empanadas and tamales. In high school, he ran and biked, was an active member of both student council and the marine biology club, and enjoyed the various classes he took. Matt recently graduated from Connecticut College, a small liberal arts school in New London, CT, where he studied history and environmental studies. Academically, he is interested in Native American history, critical race theory, the intersection of academia and activism, environmental injustice and discrimination, and literature. In his free time, Matt enjoys playing music with his friends and bandmates, hiking and adventuring on backpacking trips, travelling, cooking, hanging out with his poodle Lucy, and watching action movies. He is super excited to be a new member of the Fusion team and couldn’t be happier being here!
