Marcia Thompson

Marcia loves teaching, she is one of our humanities (History and English) teacher/mentors at the Lincoln Park campus. She grew up in Kalamazoo, Michigan and attended Michigan State University (MSU) for her undergraduate studies in pre-law Criminal Justice. Marcia also received a law degree from George Mason University School of Law in Virginia.

Marcia has worked as a mentor, teacher and professor in the past. As an attorney, she worked as a Guardian ad Litem (GAL)/child advocate for many years in Virginia, and with the Department of Family Services to address various dynamics with families and children. In her capacity as a GAL she often worked with and on behalf of children to ensure they had the services they needed to be successful in school and home. She has also been an educator and taught, advised, and mentored undergraduate and graduate students for many years.

Marcia secretly wants to be an actress and loves the theater, many lawyers “secretly” want to be actors. She took several theater classes at MSU and still attends plays whenever she has free time in Chicago, DC, and New York. She encourages her husband and son to join her as often as possible.
