Marc Missirlian

Teacher/Mentor

Marc is a teacher in the sciences and mathematics as well as an aide to the students in the HW café.  He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Ecology from the University of California, Irvine where he focused on environmental science and chemistry. He also possesses a Master’s Degree in Philosophy from California State University, Los Angeles, where he focused on environmental philosophy, ethics, and the history of philosophy. Accordingly, one of Marc’s goals as an educator is to bridge the gap between the arts and the sciences, as he believes that both are requisite for a robust education in contemporary society.

Further, Marc has been involved in scouting his whole life where he has learned to teach & mentor youth through various scouting activities such as camping, hiking, and the earning of merit badges towards the completion of Boy Scouting’s highest rank, Eagle Scout.  Marc also worked as a Graduate Assistant in the Philosophy Department at CSULA where he taught lectures, held office hours, and helped students in developing their critical thinking, reading comprehension, and writing skills. In his spare time he loves playing basketball, strumming the bass guitar, and of course, camping! He also enjoys card games, especially hearts.

Finally, what he loves most about working at Fusion Academy Pasadena is being part of, and contributing to, the vibrant community that exists here. From students to faculty and administration, individuals are encouraged to engage with and support each other academically and socially day in and day out – what a joy to witness!
