Liz Edwards

Director of Outreach

Liz is thrilled to be joining the Fusion family as Director of Outreach for the Park Avenue and Lincoln Center campuses. In this role, Liz provides connection between the Fusion community and the Manhattan community, including the families, educators and mental health professionals that help support the Fusion mission.

Liz earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Emerson College, majoring in Theatre Studies and minoring in Psychology. After living in Los Angeles and pursuing an acting career, Liz found that she was more interested in using her love of theatre in a therapeutic way. This led her to New York University, where she achieved a Master of Arts Degree in Drama Therapy. In the past, Liz has worked as a Registered Drama Therapist and Licensed Creative Arts Therapist with adults, adolescents, children and families struggling with a variety of challenges, including chronic mental illness, Autism Spectrum Disorders, substance abuse and issues relating to recent incarceration or probation. She served on the regional board for the North American Drama Therapy Association for five years, in the roles of Vice President as well as President. While on the board, she co-chaired a thought-provoking conference for the eastern region NADTA, as well as oversaw monthly educational events for the Creative Arts Therapy community in the tri-state area. Her passion for making meaningful relationships has been a common thread throughout her diverse career, and she is enthusiastic to continue this important work at Fusion Academy.

Liz has retained her Nashville roots, particularly evidenced by her lifetime motto: “What Would Dolly Parton Do?” When not directing outreach, she is running in the park with her Pitbull mix (named “Dolly”, of course), officiating weddings and monopolizing the karaoke mic for Whitney Houston purposes.
